It's different, too-- he realizes, to a flutter in his heart. Damn. Jason was trying.

There's a pleased hum in Griffin's throat as he kisses back, smiling, stroking his hair as he presses against him.]

[he knew that was something he wanted. he knew he was angling for it, knew it wasn't a thing he was good at, and yet he tried anyway.

a hand goes up and slides gently through his hair, to the back of his head, softly cradling.

he's not good at this, he tells himself.

but he was trying.]

[That's all Griffin wanted.

He's putty in Jason's hands at this point, even with this much. Sighing contentedly, he leans to up let his forehead rest against Jason's, close enough that their noses still touched. So he could still feel each precious breath they took.]

...So that's what it looks like.

[that requires so much leaning down on his part, but he'll allow it.]

Don't tell anyone.

[Did you know that your normal name could still sound affectionate when the way it's whispered treasures it like liquid diamonds?]

[and he's going to gently push him back towards the bed.]

And this is starting to be a pain in my neck, you know.

[he teases, lightly]

When people say that, they're usually not being literal.

[He sits once the edge of the bed meets the back of his knees, beckoning Jason to come down with him.]

...Just keep doing what you're doing.

[Because you're doing great]

[he follows him, and then presses him back against the bed.]

Which part? Asking how, or the pain in the neck? One is definitely literal.

[and then he pauses as he leans over him, considering, his lips just slightly off of griffin's, so that his next words could be felt.]

The other... could be, if you wanted, I guess.

[and then he kisses him again, a little more intently, hungry for something he didn't know he missed.]

[He lets out a soft gasp of anticipation when he's pressed down into those familiar sheets, in the shadow of a familiar body. Without thinking, he cups Jason's face and bites down on his own lip with clear arousal in his face.

And then Jason kisses him, with a fervor that makes his back arch - a fire lighting in his belly.

It felt like going back to their own ways. And a part of him wanted it, badly. A physical hunger for their bodies to clash together again. But another... it wanted that budding tenderness more.

Maybe being tender - having a more... honest emotional connection - meant it wouldn't end the same way.

Griffin smiles and smoothes Jason's hair as he breaks to breathe]

We always fuck in your bed. Can't we just make out and enjoy the company?

... Okay.

[he gives him a half smile as he finishes that, and his hands stay from wandering too much.

this is another thing he's not sure he's good at, but it's something he'll listen to. he shifts to the side of Griffin, letting his hips hit the mattress, his fingertips dragging lightly across his face.]

Whatever you say, Griffin,

[he wouldn't fight this. wouldn't try to create more distance to avoid that feeling of tenderness.]

[He couldn't help it. When Jason caresses his face, Griffin chuckles - or maybe it was closer to a giggle? Just, a soft laugh of pure, earnest delight at being treated so tenderly.

He's just happy.

Even this much, it made him happy.

He nestles closer to nuzzle against Jason's face and reaches for his hand]

...This is nice.

[how is he real?

Whatever uncertainty Jason feels, he masks with a grin. Has to resist the urge to point out that he’s no good at this. That Griffin shouldn’t want this from him.

But he doesn’t, and his fingers twitch against Griffin’s hand.]

I told you... it looks different when I try.

[lamer. More sincere.]

[He squeezes Jason's hand gently, a warmth in his eyes as he gazes at Jason proudly for his awkward, but genuine gesture.

Griffin plants a soft kiss of thanks on his lips, and murmurs,]

Looks good on you.

[he could tease him, but instead, he's just going to lean in to kiss him again, because you know what? now that they're like this, it doesn't require leaning down so much.

but mostly, because he wanted to.

he was bad at words, and he didn't trust himself to not ruin this if he let himself talk.]

[That was probably for the best. Griffin didn't feel like he needed words right now anyway - not when he's lacing his fingers through Jay's hand and kissing back with gentle encouragement.

Honesty didn't have to be frightening. It was okay to want this. He wanted it too.]
