THE LOST DAYS... Round 1.

It's all darkness.

The feeling of nothingness, of being nothing. Of not existing. You have no thoughts, you will never have any thoughts again. While that fact is not comforting, because you cannot be comforted anymore, it is true.

There's a certain rest to being... nothing. And to both knowing and not knowing, that your time is done.

So it's all the more unfortunate when you feel, because you shouldn't feel. And the feeling is burning in your lungs, which you shouldn't have. Because you are- or were- nothing.

And then, you inhale a desperate gasp of air and open your eyes...

Nero's quiet for a while, before muttering,]

What about Talon? It's his second chance too... he hasn't even hit puberty and he's already died doing the same thing.

... I keep hoping he'll go somewhere else, regardless of what I do.

We weren't... all that close, back home. So I don't know what to do now that we are.

I don't think he knows what t'do with himself either. The closest thing he's had to a normal life is in Hell.

[Nero bows his head for a moment, and takes a deep breath.]

[he runs his hand through his hair one last time before pulling back.]

[Nero sneaks in one more kiss before he pulls back.]

Anyway, I gotta go pick up a troublemaker.

[he headnods towards the exit.]

[He nods, letting him go. But not before asking,]

Don't suppose you have a spare gas mask somewhere around here?

[he raises an eyebrow.]

... Are you seriously gonna try a repeat performance of Talon's heart?

What? No, but the exit got flooded with gas when me and Talon were in Arkham earlier. That's why we ran for the basement.

[he rubs his face.]

Yeah.

I'll get something for you.

[he starts to walk towards the back, where there seem to be cabinets? but mostly they'd looked unimportant.

but jason will pull out a mask to hand Nero.]

Here.

[Nero puts it on immediately because YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO SAFE, IN BAT HEARTS]

...I swear I'm not gonna kill anything for real this time.

[but he'll let him go, if he wants.]

[His voice is low as he mutters,]
