THE LOST DAYS... Round 1.

It's all darkness.

The feeling of nothingness, of being nothing. Of not existing. You have no thoughts, you will never have any thoughts again. While that fact is not comforting, because you cannot be comforted anymore, it is true.

There's a certain rest to being... nothing. And to both knowing and not knowing, that your time is done.

So it's all the more unfortunate when you feel, because you shouldn't feel. And the feeling is burning in your lungs, which you shouldn't have. Because you are- or were- nothing.

And then, you inhale a desperate gasp of air and open your eyes...

"Please. I'm the only one that would've rushed in to help you. You really got a death wish going down there."

As he says that, he approaches, easily.

"So, like I said, if you're gonna be a bunch of dumbos, you're gonna need me."

He picks ups a multiplication table to check it idly, and then tosses it.

"Anyway, if you're on clean-up duty, what're you doing here?"

Looking for traces of it, obviously. I was not given a roadmap to which locations still need aid.

"Uhhh, going to school," he says, giving him a look that clearly asks 'isn't it obvious?'

He starts to walk towards the door.

"A shitty crime school, but it's still school. Anyway, you comin'? Only thing you'll find here is my life before all the crime fightin' and stuff."

He turns as he reaches the door, and scrunches his face in childish contemplation. "I mean... You're in here, and you didn't get kicked out after beefing it. So I guess you could?"

There's a brief pause. "I mean, I'm not that Red Hood asshole, so I don't care."

[ He grimaces and shakes his head firmly ]

I don't want to snoop. I want to get rid of the flowers, and if that means clearing them out of his memories then I'll do it. I'm just surprised there isn't stronger security on them.

"There is. Well... normally."

He sounds a little unsure as he thinks it through, but settles for a shrug.

"But I dunno, how many people come into your heart on the daily? Do you know what your security might look like? And what that kinda thing means for a person?"

Having it happen even once is more than I'd like.

[ He considers the question for a long moment, finally shrugging stiffly himself ]

What do you mean "what does it mean"? It's security. Why would it mean anything?

"Okay. Well, our security system's the guy who greeted you outta the coffin. And he wanted to kick you out, right?"

A pause.

"He's gonna really wanna kick you out now, but not the point. He's gotta listen to someone else, who's willing to admit he needs help."

And then he pushes open the door, stepping outside.

"And he doesn't get to lock me up in 'my place' so I can help you, 'cause I'm smarter than him. And my point is, he likes it best when there's no change. That's the best security system you can get."

[ Well that clarifies a few things. He seems much more interested now, not so much as hesitating to follow him outside ]

His form seems to shift into a slightly older Jason-as-Robin figure. But definitely not the kid who was beat near to death in the bottom of the cave.

"Yeah. I want a future, and I'm tired of all the dumb cagey bullshit."

He stops before he goes too much further.

You can't see him roll his eyes, but he's rolling his eyes.

"You and me, we see eye to eye. Good luck with everyone else."
